It is the first important to introduce its past concept: the gaze. According to Wikipedia the gaze is concept used for “analysing visual culture… That deals with how an audience views the people presented.” The type of gaze are primarily categorised by who is doing the looking.

While the ideas behind the concept were present in earlier you uses of the gaze, the introduction of the term the male gaze can be traced back to Laura mulyey and her essay visual pleasure and narrative Cinema which was published in 1975. In its Mulyey states that in film woman are typically the objects rather than the possessors of the gaze comes from the camera (the gaze)  laura mulyey is talking about Hollywood film that the overwhelmingly male watches the female and that it is still happening today which I think is true, Hollywood and the male audience likes to watch the pretty girl just look at the film avengers fall I am man the whole and Hawkeye all male then you get black widow played by the beautiful and talented Scarlett Johansson which is in a skimpy tight black suit. Also for another example of the new Star Trek movie into darkness the whole cast are men except the two women, and one of those women strips down into her underwear she says to turn around and look away when she gets undressed and even then still see her  because the captain peaks and the camera looks at her.
